Mink & Silk Eyelash Extensions – What You Should Know

With the popularity of eyelash extensions growing globally, several news types of eyelashes are popping up. But what’s the difference?
Although any of the extensions will give you constant compliments, there are some vital differences between these popular eyelash extensions that you should be aware of.

Differences Between Mink, Silk or Synthetic Eyelashes

The main difference between the types of lashes comes down to their firmness, are they real fur, faux fur or synthetic.
Synthetic or Silk lashes are the heaviest, great for a really full thick look, often rated at 0.20mm in thickness.
Mink or Faux Mink are usually thinner and softer than Silk  rated at 0.15mm-0.2mm in thickness, but can also come thicker as well.
I usually use Mink, and I consult my clients to figure out the thickness that will work with their expectations.
Real Fur won’t hold a curl as well as Faux Fur.

Mink Eyelashes

Mink Lashes are the new craze. If you’re going for that 100% natural look, this is the best you can get. Most people love Mink because they look so natural and give them full, fluffy eyelashes.
Real Mink lashes come from the Mink tail, either the Siberian Mink or the Chinese Mink. The Siberian Mink are the better of the two.
There is also the Faux Mink, they are more affordable, come very close to holding all the same characteristics except if you get them wet, they won’t lose their curl which is a huge advantage over real Mink.

Characteristics

Mink lashes are known to be very light and soft, making them a more comfortable choice over silk lashes. They also have a gloss or shin to them and have a more natural fluffy look. They often come with a perm and will last a little longer than silk.

Wearability

You should choose Mink lashes if you want extensions that you’ll be wearing for a prolong period of time. In other words, you plan on keeping them and continually retouched.
The minks are also  great if your own natural lashes are thinner, because the mink lashes are very light and soft.
If you want a more natural looking lash which you can apply mascara to enhance, then Mink should be your first choice.
Note: You should only use mascara designed for extensions.

Cost

Now this is the scary part. An initial set of Real Mink lashes will be a bit pricey.
I charge all first-time clients up with an initial set of Mink lashes for only £40 half set and £65 full set ( I often offer discounted prices on them also).

Silk Eyelash Extensions

When someone says Synthetic Lashes they are referring to either Silk or Acrylic.
Synthetic Silk being the more popular of the two for the lighter feel. Not as light as Mink, but they are more comfortable than Acrylic and can be used for everyday use.

Characteristics

Synthetic Silk Eyelashes are great for short term wear or special occasions since they are thicker, full and have a uniformed perfect curve to them.
Since they already hold such a dark pigment, there is no reason for mascara.
They are usually much thicker than Mink lashes rated at 0.20mm.

Wearability

Choose Synthetic Silk eyelash extension for those special occasions. A wedding, a photo-shoot or a part in a film. You can use them as everyday lashes as well but they won’t be as light and comfortable as the Mink lashes.

Full Body Waxing - Semi-Permanent Hair Removal

While most women love that freshly waxed look and feel, many don't have the courage or don't know about the service. Waxing is a great alternative to shaving if you have hair you're uncomfortable with, and it is recommended for people of all ages.

Waxing is much better because it removes hair from the root, it can last up to a month, although some people will start to see regrowth in only a week due to some of their hair being on a different growth cycle. Over time it thins the hair so less grows back. The treatment also exfoliates the skin leaving you feeling silky smooth.

It is a form of semi-permanent hair removal which removes the hair from the root. Almost any area of the body can be waxed, including eyebrows, face, bikini waxing, legs, arms, back, abdomen and feet. There are two types of waxing suitable for removing unwanted hair:

Strip waxing (soft wax) is accomplished by spreading a wax thinly over the skin. A cloth or paper strip is applied and pressed firmly, adhering the strip to the wax and the wax to the skin. The strip is then quickly ripped against the direction of hair growth, as parallel as possible to the skin to avoid trauma to the skin (i.e, bruising, broken capillaries, ingrown hairs caused by hair follicle trauma and lifting of skin). This removes the wax along with the hair.

Hard wax, is applied thickly and with no cloth or paper strips. The wax then hardens when it cools, thus allowing the easy removal by a therapist without the aid of cloths. This waxing method is very beneficial to people who have sensitive skin. Strip-less wax does not adhere to the skin as much as strip wax does, thus making it a good option for sensitive skin as finer hairs are more easily removed because the hard wax encapsulates the hair as it hardens.

I recommend an exfoliating scrub the day before and advise not to apply body lotion on the day of the treatment as it is easier to remove the hair. It is excellent for summer when we will be able to wear shorts and dresses to show our amazing hairless legs and arms.

In my opinion anyone who hasn't given it a try should do it because the feeling that the service gives us afterwards is amazing, we feel more confident and good about ourselves.

Non Surgical Facelift, Galvanic & High Frequency #facial #review

We all know that skin condition is a matter of skin health and not just aesthetics. While a proper skin care is one of the most effective ways to maintain the issue of ageing, blemishes and dehydration, our skin could use an extra boost, which is why I recommend the use of electrical machines also known as facial and body electrotherapy.

Electrotherapy is a range of beauty treatments that uses low electric currents passed through the skin to produce several therapeutic effects such as deep cleansing of the skin, muscle toning in the face and body and lifting of the face.Current technologies offer various electrical machines to aid in the treatment of skin condition. Such machines include High Frequency, Galvanic and Micro-Current.

As a professional I know many people aren't aware of the benefits of these treatments which could boost their confidence and self esteem as well as for the beauty therapist to be able to offer more treatments to clients and Salon owners which could increase their business in every way. Ageing, blemished and dehydrated skin are conditions that we all face. Our skin ages every day, and it is up to us to take the necessary preventive measures to ensure our skin ages at a slower frequency. Electrical treatments offer ways to address the issues that go with any skin condition to help clients maintain not only a youthful appearance, but also a good skin health.

Galvanic

A galvanic facial involves the use of mild electric direct currents consisting of positive and negative ions to refresh, stimulate and rejuvenate the skin. The average time for the treatment can vary from 25 to 40 minutes, prices also vary.

The treatment aims to improve the skin in two ways:

  • Cleansing which is a process called desincrustation, which a pre-treatment gel with a negative charge is applied to the skin; and
  • nourishing through iontophoresis, which a second gel with a positive charge is applied to a clean and dry skin.
This is achieved by the application of a small, constant, direct current. The treatment works on the belief that charged ions in the skin are either attracted or repelled from the electrodes (conductors or probes). Galvanic treatment is normally done on the face for deep cleansing and on the body to treat cellulite.

Benefits and effects of Galvanic:

• Tightening and firming of tissues.
• Decrease in blood flow.
• Decrease in sensitivity.
• Reduction of oedema and lymph stagnation.
• Oxygenation of cells.
• Calms and soothes the skin.
• Restores critical moisture.
• Regenerates the skin.
• Stimulates cell renewal and improves skin vitality.

High Frequency

High-frequency treatment uses low-current high-frequency alternating currents, carried via a glass electrode (conductor or probes). Because the high frequency current converts some of the oxygen in the air into ozone, the treatment has a germicidal action. The treatment is used to aid healing, and also to help desquamation (the skin's natural exfoliation), and stimulate sweat and sebaceous glands.

This helps dry out spots and it is good for oily skin. An indirect high frequency facial uses a saturator electrode held by the client to draw a moisturising massage medium deeper into the skin, and so is best suited for more mature or dry skin types. The treatment also lasts between 25 to 40 minutes and it can be done once a week for the first 4 treatments and once a month after that.
The machine can be used most on the face but can also be used on the back for a "back facial" (the same process for facials) to treat spots.

Benefits of High Frequency:

• Stimulates circulation of the blood.
• Increases glandular activity.
• Aids in elimination of toxins and absorption of nutrients to the cell.
•  Increases metabolism.
• Germicidal action occurs during use.
• Generates heat inside the tissues.
• Aids in deeper penetration of product into the skin.

Benefits of Indirect High Frequency:

• Aiding in the penetration of treatment creams/serums/complexes by increasing the blood flow.
• Regenerating the skin.
• Re-energising tired and stressed skin.
•  Assisting in massage for an ageing skin using the indirect method.

Microcurrent

Microcurrent is a low level of electrical current that reflects body’s own natural current, which is sub sensory in most causes and therefore barely noticeable. The treatment works by passing a very small direct current through muscle tissue to stimulate our sensory receptor and that is why it is very important that the beauty therapist knows exactly where the origins and insertion of the muscle are for best results.

It is a anti ageing skin treatment used to diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by improving texture and appearance of skin and reducing the overall visual appearance of ageing. Skin care therapists use micro-current to tone and firm the skin and it is most related to the term "non surgical face lifting".

The treatment can be done between 30 to 45 minutes and it depends on the client's skin type, condition and age. Most beauty salons offer the treatment by courses of 6 or 10 sessions and prices also vary. It can also be applied on the body (breasts) to help lifting the skin.

Benefits of Microcurrent:

• Improve muscle tone in face and neck.
• Lift jowls and eyebrows.
• Skin exfoliation.
• Sun damaged treatment.
• Increase product penetration.
• Reduce wrinkles and eliminate fine lines
• Improve facial circulation

I hope this post has been really helpful. Let me know if you have any question...

Semi-Permanent Eyelash Extension

Eyelash extensions are enhancements designed to add length, thickness and fullness to natural eyelashes to achieve a beautiful full luscious and long set of lashes that are natural and you won't even know they are there. They can be separated into two types: temporary (two weeks) and semi-permanent (up to 8 weeks).

Adna Cristina Beauty has years of experience in applying single semi-permanent eyelashes extension, giving clients the confidence they need. The lashes we use are of a professional product made of a soft and naturally curved synthetic material designed to bond to human eyelashes that last up to 8 weeks. Eyelash hair is particularly fine, and therefor the chemicals used are a specifically formulated bonding agent, it dries soft, remains flexible and bouncy and most importantly causes no damage to the natural eyelashes.

Now a days there are many eyelash extension brands selling their own product which can be from flexible and medio durability to a much more quality products. Of course you will have to do infills from the second or third week which you pay around £25 to £40 and the service itself can be priced from £65 to £80 average.

I had the service done many times and it does feel good, I loved the treatment so much that I decided to do the training and it was a success, all the ladies wanted to have their eyelashes
done, it makes us feel more confident and good about ourselves.

I think if you haven't had the treatment yet, you should give it a try and see for yourself. The extensions doesn't last long if you are wearing oil based makeup such as liquid eyeliner or mascara. So when you have the eyelashes done try not to use oil based makeup and never rub your eyes; it will make your natural lashes fall out and also the synthetic lashes that are glued on them, you don't want that to happen before the time.

Any comments or suggestion I'm here to help... :-) Thank you for stopping by!
